Astronomers have identified a colossal “rotating filament” of galaxies that represents one of the largest spinning structures ever observed. Spanning millions of light-years, this cosmic filament is part of the “cosmic web” that connects the universe. The discovery that such massive scale structures possess coherent angular momentum (spin) challenges current models of how gravity and dark matter organize the universe on the grandest scales.
