Published on December 23, 2025, researchers at MIT and Stanford have unveiled a method to unmask tumors that use “glycan” sugars to hide from the immune system. They developed multifunctional molecules called AbLecs that act like molecular scissors, stripping away these sugars and allowing the body’s natural immune cells to finally “see” and destroy the cancer. This technique outperformed current antibody therapies in early tests and offers a new way to treat tumors that were previously considered “immune-cold” and untreatable.
